ABOUT US
Red Board takes its name from a term rooted in railway history. As trains approached downtown, mechanical signs warned engineers of conditions ahead, white boards meant clear tracks, while red boards signaled an immediate stop. Located in the heart of Navasota’s historic Railroad District, Red Board Tavern & Table proudly lives up to its name as a place worth stopping for.
The building dates back to 1890 and has witnessed multiple eras of growth in downtown Navasota, including the boom of the Railroad District at the turn of the 20th century, when cattle and “king cotton” drove the local economy. Cotton warehouses, dry goods stores, saloons, and restaurants once lined the tracks, creating a vibrant hub of commerce and community.
Following a major renaissance between 2017 and 2022, the Railroad District was brought back to life through thoughtful restoration, entrepreneurial spirit, and a renewed focus on food and entertainment. Today, Red Board Tavern & Table is proud to be recognized as one of the best restaurants in the Brazos Valley, known for its great food, excellent service, and an unforgettable atmosphere.
